Adult Leader Clearances

Thank you for your interest in becoming an adult leader at Shady Grove! Dedicated adult volunteers are the backbone of the Scouting program. They provide mentorship, share knowledge, and create fun and educational programs in a safe, structured environment.  Since Shady Grove is in Pennsylvania, our units do not accept online adult applications, but rather printed ones. To register, print and complete the following application and submit it to the unit you plan on registering with.

Due to the Shady Grove units being a part of Pennsylvania, the following clearances will also need to be submitted before your Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) application can be approved. The completed clearances can either be turned into the Shenandoah Area Council or the unit you are planning on registering with (preferred). The following clearances must be renewed every five years. 

In addition to the above Pennsylvania state clearances, Scouting America’s Safeguarding Youth Training must be taken online. This training needs to be taken annually or your membership cannot be renewed. For the online training, please visit: https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/
